I bought a 1997 Tiburon from my uncle. He sold it to me saying there wasn’t anything wrong with it, it just needs a brand new battery cause this one was 3 years old. Ok, so he sold it to me for 400$ . On the bill of sale it says 400$ and on the title it says 400$ . I have paid 400$ and have a receipt with his signature on it proving I have made that full payment amount. BUT he won’t take his name off of the title unless I pay 400$ more. He is currently the lien holder and I can’t send it off unless he signs the back of the title. I paid 350$ to get the alternator fixed. I bought a new battery for 72$ and i also got a tune up and new battery terminals. I got all of these repairs after my car broke down for the second time. The first time my car wouldn’t start and it wouldn’t start after being jumped. It finally started an hour later. When it broke down the second time it wouldn’t start what so ever, so we had to have it towed to a repair shop it worked for a few days and now it’s been broke down 25 miles away from me and will not start what so ever. I have no idea what it could be and I want to stop paying him because technically I’ve paid him off but I’m afraid if I stop paying him he can repo the car and keep it until i pay it off. Should I stop paying him?! I must say, I am 16 working a minimum wage job only getting 42 hrs a paycheck. Should i stop paying him and take care of my car?!

Answer by rish Talk to your parents you need to quit paying him if you were 18 I’d say go to small claim courts and get back everything over 400 dollars and the judge would make him sign off the title because you do have a signed receipt

i bought a car for 650.
i gave 500 up front and agreed to pay the other 150 when i had the money..
i signed a hand written bill of sale that stated that.. there was no specific date on the bill of sale and now the seller is saying it is notarized…and wants the rest by the 12 of november.
can you notarize a document without both parties being present?
she is saying if i dont have the money she will repo the car and she isnt a dealer or anything… can that happen?
i feel like im getting screwed.
well i plan on paying her. there is no doubt but we had origanlly never set a date.. im making less than fifty dollars a paycheck and i have a daughter to support… im asking if you can get that stuff notarized without me there and if she can actually repo it
also she is not the person i bought it from…………… i bought it from her son that is now in Miami..

That doesn’t mean you have until the end of time (whether it be 2012 or beyond that) to pay up. Get moving.
